Interview with Dr. Cynthia Briggs in Imagine Magazine

by Matt Logan on February 15, 2013

Several months ago, I had the privilege of recording a podcast with Dr. Cynthia Briggs, Psy.D., MT-BC, of Maryville University in St. Louis, MO. She is a clinician and lecturer on the topic of infant attachment. In fact, my first encounter with Cynthia was during her presentation at a national music therapy conference in San Diego, and I believe it was entitled, “The First Duet.”

It was an honor to sit down with her for a while, and we were fortunate enough to have the recording published as a podcast on Imagine Magazine for early childhood music therapy. In this conversation, we talk about the theory of infant attachment, identify music’s role in the process, and present practical applications for parents and clinicians.

You can find that podcast (and many other great ones, for that matter), by clicking on this link.

I would love to hear your thoughts and comments! How do you use music to connect with your baby? Do you coach other mothers? What strategies do you rely on?

Have a great weekend!
